Question #5:
Should I wait to treat my puppy's fractured leg as the vet said, or should i have it splinted/casted a.s.a.p?
I have a 5 month old Australian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mixed puppy who suffered a fractured front leg 2 days ago. He and my 7 yr. old daughter were playing, and from what I could tell he was chasing her and she fell on him. I immediately took him to an emergency vet. clinic, and they wanted to charge me $319 to x-ray and splint his leg while I decided what other measures I would take as far as casting vs surgery. I was told by the veterinarian there that casts usually do not allow a puppy's bone to heal properly because it's difficult to keep the cast clean and dry, and that my puppy would probably need surgery (pins inserted into the bone) in order for his leg to heal correctly. I couldn't afford the x-rays and the splinting costs, so I paid $134 for her to feel my puppy's leg and tell me it was fractured. She gave my puppy 2 shots for pain and one week's worth of pain meds and we left.Since I couldn't really afford to turn around and pay yet another fee to visit to my primary vet. the following morning, a friend of mine had me bring my puppy to the vet. clinic across from his business since he knows the people who work there. The vet. there looked at my puppy's leg and told me that since he's so young his bone will heal quickly and that it did not feel displaced. She told me that I could crate my puppy and see how he does in the next week or so and bring him back if his condition worsens. I was prepared to pay the $252 she had initially quoted to my friend in order for them to cast the leg, but when I got there and she looked at my dog told me that he could just rest and hopefully the bone would slowly heal on its own. I was unsure about the advice she had given because no x-rays were done, and I don't feel comfortable just allowing him to limp around (i only allow him out to potty) with this type of injury. When my friend asked her what she suggested we do in terms of casting vs waiting to see how the puppy healed naturally, she just said she couldn't recommend either and that it was up to me. It was as if she was almost trying to dissuade me from paying the $252 for the cast since she knew I couldn't really afford it.
Should I follow this advice and allow my puppy to rest with no splint or cast since there were no x-rays done to see how bad the fracture is, or should I insist on her casting my puppy's leg? Thanks in advance for your help!

Question #12:
casual/part-time job for an undergrad?
hey guys,i sorta need and want a job but nobody's hiring me. i've given away my resume to heaps of stores but i never heard from them. i've had experience in my country as a casual librarian (like, 3 months) and laundry store cashier (2 years) but i don't think australian companies regard them as "real job experiences". also, i don't have my former supervisors' number so i've got no "reference".. and i think that's what makes the employers think that i'm just making up my own "job experiences". also, i'm 21 now so idk.
i usually apply as crew at fast food chains but i think i'm over qualified. i studied business management (3yrs), accounting (1/2yr), and now doing architecture (on my 1st year) so... yeah. i thought maybe i just "edit" my resume by saying that i did management for 2 years in my country (cuz i'm a foreign student) and is now doing archi. whatchasay guys?
but wait, where else do u think i can apply?

Question #16:
Joke: The Aussies are working with us for the next 3 months so get ready?
A pom, fresh off the plane at Sydney airport, is trying to negotiate Australian customs. Finally, when it's his turn to get his passport stamped, the customs officer starts rattling off the usual questions:C.O. - How long do you intend to stay?
POM - 1 week.
C.O. - What is the nature of this trip?
POM - Business.
C.O. - Do you have any past criminal convictions?
POM - I didn't think we still needed to!
Question #17:
which USA college suit me financially and academically?
I'm Australian and seriously looking into studying in the USA. The uni system here is expensive as, and is a joke. I'd also like to see the world a little bit.But the bottom line is, I need to make an informed decision to narrow the pool based on a couple criteria I have.
I can really only afford to pay $17,000USD a year (x4) in fees (all inclusive - I'll live off campus if I have to) after international student aid. So I'll be looking for a cheaper college or potentially a junior/community college and then a transfer after a year or so to save money.
I'd also like a college with an intercollegiate rowing crew (I row, our crew is state champs, can't get a scholarship - I'm a dude) or that is close to several rowing clubs and that is also pretty close to the coast (less than an hour and a halfs drive)
Academically, I'd be looking to study Business Admin/Management or some sort of Management degree. I also have a GPA of 3.7 (unweighted)
Cheers.
I am attending from out of state - U of Florida costs 23k a year. I can only afford 15-17k a year
I don't care. I am not looking to go to an Ivy or a school like Rutgers or Purdue. I am looking to go to a moderate school, and what I can afford is what I can afford.
yes, but with your daughter, did you send her to a top school?
Question #18:
Why do the Chinese hate America(ns)? Or american values or "Westerners"?
I have become the butt of anti-american sentiment in the office, although I am not American, and being Australian apparently is the same as being American, which is ofcourse the same as being British in a very strange logic. Furthermore, aussies and brits are percieved as following "America" and it's "bad" ways.Ofcourse there are no concrete examples to back up these arguments about how "CHina is so good and Chinese are better people than America and Americans or white people," just random references to Chinese books like "Currency Wars," "Unhappy China" and "China can say no."
Whilst I could not discern any logical argumentative frame of thought from the rants of these people, I could definitely feel that distance; how you are not one of them and they are reluctant to share further views with you, but they hate America and you embody "America" even though you aren't a yank to begin with.
Has anyone felt this? Here are my queries:
Why do these people lump us altogether into this enormously broad category called "The West."
Why do these people hate America or americans? Yet they do not come across americans, nor do they speak to them socially; (apart from business meetings i suppose).
